Tulip Festival Kashmir 7 Night/8 Days Day 1 Arrive at Kashmir airport to a warm welcome by our representative. We take you straight to our luxury houseboats to relax, freshen up and start breathing in the air of paradise...the clear fresh air of Kashmir. Spend time exploring the boat and the various activities like the floating bazaars, the shikarah’s and the locals carrying out their daily routine in the lake area. Day 2 Wake up in luxury as our staff pamper you with our hospitality. We set out for the day to explore Srinagar – the lake city as it is aptly called. Home to beautiful mughal architecture, deep green rice fields, lush green gardens in blooms, and lakes rimmed with houseboats, Srinagar is a place you will fall in love with at first sight. We spend the day exploring the various places of interest, namely the Shankarcharya Temple (Hindu Shrine) which is situated on the highest hill of Srinagar and is nearly one thousand feet above the city, Nishat Bagh – known as the largest mughal garden situated on the banks of Dal lake and Shalimar Bagh- a beautiful mughal garden where one can sit and relax amidst the Chinar trees. After a day well spent amidst nature we settle for the evening in the houseboat. Overnight stay. DAY 03: SRINAGAR TO PAHALGAM. After breakfast at the house boat, we will drive from Srinagar to Pahalgam, en-route visiting Saffron fields of Pampora. Look out for the beautiful countryside, lots of rice fields and Awantipura ruins on the way. This drive is very scenic as we drive through pine forests and the confluence of rivers flowing from the river Lidder and Sheshnag lake. On arrival we proceed to the resort. Pahalgam or the Valley of Shepherds as it is also known – is a resort set in a pristine village lying next to the Lidder River. Once a humble shepherd’s village with breathtaking views now it is Kashmir’s premier resort and is cool even during peak summer. Surrounded with fragrant pine forests, the idyllic resort includes a golf course and spots for angling. The bubbling Lidder harbors a sizeable population of rainbow & brown trout to ensure you don’t come away disappointed. The nearby forested slopes are home to the Himalayan brown bear. Around Pahalgam there are many other places of interest, and because the resort is set between fairly steep hills, it is worth hiring a pony rather than walking. The most beautiful of these is the huge, undulating meadow of Baisaran, surrounded by thickly wooded forests of pine. Hajan is an ideal and much loved spot picnic spot. Overnight stay at the hotel DAY 04: PAHALGAM – GULMARG After early breakfast at the hotel, we drive to Gulmarg from Pahalgam. Gulmarg (Meadow of Gold) – was discovered as a tourist destination by the British in the 19th century. Prior to that, Mughal emperors vacationed in the Gulmarg valley which is about 03 kms long and up-to 01 km wide. It is exquisitely situated in a pine surrounded basin of the Pir Panjal range at an altitude of 2,730 meters above sea level and is one of the most famous tourist destinations of Kashmir. It also has one of the world’s highest 18 hole green golf course as well as a clubhouse, which is a historical building in its own right. OPTIONAL - One can enjoy Gondola ride or Horse ride at Gulmarg. For a fun-filled ride of a most unusual kind, Gulmarg’s newly constructed gondola lift from high above Gulmarg, through pine-clad slopes is exhilarating. From Gulmarg a pony track leads upwards to Khilanmarg, Kangdori & seven springs. Over night stay at the hotel. DAY 05: GULMARG—SRINAGAR. After a good nights rest and breakfast we drive down from Gulmarg to Srinagar. Spend the Afternoon relaxing in a Shikara ride on the lake – Meander through the various waterways and experience the local flavours of the city. Spend the day relaxing and enjoying the beauty around. Overnight stay at the houseboat. DAY 06: SONMARG EXCURSION or optional free day for local activities. After having breakfast at the hotel, we head out for a full day excursion trip to Sonmarg. Sonmarg (Meadow of Gold) – is a place of enthralling beauty and lies in the Sindh Valley. Streamed with flowers, surrounded by mountains and perched at an altitude of 2690 m above sea level, sonmarg leaves you breathless. Visited less frequently by tourists, it has as its backdrop, snowy mountains against a clear blue sky. It is a quiet alpine retreat surrounded with sycamore, silver birch, fir and pine trees and the last halt on the Kashmir side for the drive from Srinagar to Leh. It is also the base for some interesting treks to the high altitude Himalayan Lakes. After eating lunch at a local restaurant, feed your cameras with the magnificent views of mountains and the surrounding landscapes. OPTIONAL - One can enjoy Horse ride at Sonmarg. Afternoon drive back from Sonmarg to Srinagar and spend the night at the houseboat. Day 07: We set out early in the morning by boat to visit the local vegetable market. This is one of the most fascinating and interesting part of the tour as we part take in the local culture of the place. We take the shikara through the canals in the lake and watch the tradesman and the locals as they go about their business. Everything is done on the boat – the selling, the buying and of course the bargaining! We return to the houseboat for breakfast and spend the rest of the day relaxing or at the local markets. Srinagar is famous for its handicrafts and dry fruits. As you explore the local bazaar there will something that you will find for everyone.. DAY 08: SRINAGAR - DELHI / ONWARD DESTINATION. We Bid adieu to a place that just leaves you spell bound and vow to come back as we are transferred back to the airport for our onward journey. Tour ends. |
